Berry Update

Posted on July 8, 2015 at 3:41 AM Comments comments (59)
The next varieties of blueberries are well on their way.  We once again have lots of blueberries available for picking.  There are also lots of red raspberries available. Some are over ripe but many are just right.  Now if the rain would stop long enough for people to come and enjoy picking.  Sure beats a drought though.  we are still trying to get our bottom hay field baled.

Blueberries are probably about 2 weeks away from being ready to pick.  The black and red raspberries are also not ready.  Will try to keep blog updated and post when berries are ready for picking.  We look forward to seeing everyone again this year.

kids and berries

Our new kids are growing faster than weeds.  We have some very impressive bucklings this year.  They seem to be built with large bones and long bodies.  The kids are very colorful this year.  I think God had a good time and great imagination when creating them.
The weather is finally starting to break so we also need to get busy on the berry patch and try to stay ahead of the weeds and pruning.
The end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 has given us some  tough losses recently with the loss of  my step mom, a dear friend of ours, and 2 very much loved dogs Bear and Bailey.  Hopefully all the sadness is done for the year and we can start to heal.
We look forward to spring and getting the garden put in and planning for canning.  Hopefully we don't have any late frost and the berries will bear lots of yummy fruit.  I hope this finds all of you well and anxious for spring to arrive.  We look forward to seeing you all again. Until then Jill

Berry update 7/13/14

What an interesting year for the berries and fruits.  The black raspberries were frozen out by winter and some of the blueberry varieties did not bear fruit this year.  The peaches were also another one that couldn't  stand the cold brutal winter.  I hate to say it but I believe we are done until the red raspberries bear their fall crop.  We will be closed until that time.  I want to thank all of our customers for coming out this year.  We appreciate your business and enjoy meeting folks from all over the world.  Thanks again.  Jill

Berry Update 7/7/14

Blueberries will be at least 5-6 days before we have any available.  The black raspberries are done for the season and the red raspberries have some left to ripen but mostly there are some that are over ripe and then the fall crop starting to make fruit.  If you are wanting to pick blueberries I would call to see if they have ripened yet.  There are still quite a few but they seem to be in limbo rather than ripening.

We have had several berry pickers over the last few days that have picked most of the RIPENED red raspberries and blueberries.  We will have more ready within the next 3 or 4 days.  We do still have lots of black raspberries that are ready now, so come see us and pick your fresh berries.

You can make it a great day of family fun by visiting Grandpa Jeff's Trail Rides across the street when your done picking berries.  They have beautiful trails you can see on horseback and tell him that Zink Berry Farms sent you.  Have a good day and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Someone who came and picked left a benefit ticket here
for an event coming up real soon.  You must have lost it when you started to write a check.  We have it here but do not know how to contact you.

Someone has also left a purse here on our front porch.  I brought it in so the dogs wouldn''t tear it up.  Please come so we can return you your purse. Thanks
