berry update

The berries are finally starting to produce but we are still slow ripening.   I miss the times when we had oodles of berries available.   Today July 6th there are none available for picking.   We are hoping that we will have an abundance in a few days to a week.   I encourage you to call before making the trip.   It is so weather dependent....please pray for some rain and sunshine.   Thanks and we look forward to seeing you.

Berries and goats

The blueberries are huge and delicious! The black raspberries are winding down. We still have some available but they will only last a little while longer. The red raspberries are sparse not sure why but our plants appear to be dying.  I planted an English walnut tree in that area and maybe that is the problem? The black berries are going to be plentiful this year they are already making berries and are red . They are going to be early this year too. My husband has been picking so we have been selling prepicked along with having the you pick. Thanks to all the folks who have came out and persevered the heat to pick berries.  We also have fresh free range eggs available and goat milk soap.  The eggs are $1.50/dozen and the soap is $2/bar. It does make your skin soft!  We also have a couple of bucklings for sale for anyone searching for a herd sire for their goats. They are 6 months old and weigh in around 80-85 pounds. One is a purebred for $250 and the other is an 88% commercial buckling and he is $175.  We are also selling our 5 year old purebred buck for $500.  He is great with the girls, easy to handle and throws beautiful parasite resistant kids.  Have a great July 4th, handle fireworks with care and stay safe!    Jill Zink

Blueberries are in their prime!!  Right now is the time to pick. We have more blueberries available now than ever before. Our newest plantings are also loaded with berries and therefore there are more berries right now than there will be once that variety is done.
The black raspberries are close. We are starting to get some when we mow.  We also have farm fresh eggs.

Blueberries are ready!! We also have some strawberries available.

Berries 2016

First off to the ones who have called I have been working 12 hours a day and have been unable to return calls. My apologies.  The blueberries are just starting to ripen with only a half dozen or so berries at a time.....yummy pancakes for us lol.  The picking season should start by the second week of June around the 15th.  That may be sooner depending on the weather.  The black raspberries are forming nicely and will also be just a few weeks away.
We do have a small crop of strawberries and not enough to really have a u-pick open for them.  We have been having strawberries for jam and fresh.  If you would like to come pick some strawberries you can probably get several gallon starting Thursday of this week....we are picking today (Tuesday) but our patch is small.

Berry Update

Posted on July 11, 2015 at 10:04 AM Comments comments (438)
We do have red raspberries and blueberries but they are very scattered.  Each bush that is bearing fruit at this time (blueberries) has maybe one or two ripe.  They are full of berries to yet ripen.  A serious picker could probably get a full bucket of red raspberries but they are between the early and fall production of fruit.  The ones that are ripe are the ones that people missed (low or deep in bush). If I was coming a long way or wanted as much as I could carry then I would wait at least 3 or 4 days and check back to make sure they were ready or that they hadn't been picked clean.  If you are close by and want enough for a cobbler/or fresh to eat then I would go ahead and come.  Once someone comes today and picks what is out there then I will post that there are none available for several days.  The blueberries are just now coming back strong but you must realize that we have 9 varieties and each variety only lasts a week or two.  Many are done for the season and some haven't even started .  Thanks and remember you can always call us at 765-346-9813 for the latest update.  Jill
